JOB DESCRIPTION: Lead Organizer – Voter Registration
ORGANIZATION: CAIR-AZ
SUMMARY:
CAIR-AZ is seeking passionate and hardworking candidates to join our non-partisan voter registration turnout effort in the state of Arizona for the 2020 election cycle. This role will focus upon increasing voter turnout in Muslim, Arab, South Asian and refugee populations throughout the state.
In Arizona, we are also looking to mobilize younger voters to take part in the 2020 election. Turning out the youth vote will be a key facet to our organizing efforts in our communities. CAIR-AZ’s 2020 non-partisan voter effort will include peer-to-peer organizing, organizing phone banks and text banks. Based on the progression of the COVID-19 crisis, we will determine the feasibility of in-person outreach efforts in the lead-up to the 2020 election.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruit and train a local volunteer team that will organize their networks around non-partisan voter turnout Develop and deliver online trainings to different facets of the community Work with local allies and organizations to encourage larger voter participation Plan and host events virtually and within the community Implement a digital-forward organizing program that includes social media, direct outreach online, and creative tactics to reach voters where they are Develop relationships and partnerships with local community and student groups Hit defined field goals, including traditional grassroots voter contact, earned media, digital outreach, and event planning and turnout Meet all data and field reporting deadlines Work with existing organizers, recruiting additional organizers and volunteers as needed Work with local staff to execute effective non-partisan voter registration strategy.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Weekend and irregular work hours required
Ability to work independently and remotely
Effective communication in a digital and largely online environment
Driven by a strong work ethic
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to adapt to evolving priorities and manage several tasks simultaneously
Previous electoral organizing experience a plus
COMPENSATION:
Salary of $3,350/monthly – This position will be in place from August through December 31st, with the potential of job growth within the organization.
