A Major Victory In Our Lawsuit Against Georgia's Anti-BDS Law

Asalaamu alaykum Brothers and Sisters,

We write to share great news with you: CAIR National and our partners just won a major victory in our lawsuit against Georgia's anti-BDS law.

In a ruling issued today, a federal judge ruled in favor of our client, filmmaker, human rights activist and journalist Abby Martin. As many of you know, Abby is an outspoken supporter of Palestinian human rights.

Two years ago, the State of Georgia cancelled  Abby's speech at a college campus because she refused to sign a state-mandated oath pledging not to engage in boycotts of Israel.

That's why our national legal team, CAIR-Georgia and the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund filed a federal First Amendment lawsuit against the state. Earlier today, a federal district court ruled in our favor, declaring the law unconstitutional and allowing our case to move forward.

Alhamdulillah, this victory marks the third state anti-BDS law that CAIR has won a victory against, following major wins in Texas and Arizona. We are also currently pursuing legal action in Maryland and ready to pursue cases in other states.

While the judge's opinion clearly indicates that the Georgia law is unconstitutional, the next stage of the case must determine what steps the court will take to address to the constitutional violation.

Alhamdulillah, CAIR is continuing the fight and winning victories with your support. Please stand with us as we defend both the right to free speech and the struggle to free Palestine.

With thanks,

Your CAIR Team
